Do Something
Have you heard the song “Do Something” written and performed by Christian artist, Matthew West?
I really think this song hits home about God’s purpose for you here on this earth.
Today, I wanted to share some of the lyrics with you, if I may?
I woke up this morning
Saw a world full of trouble now, thought
How’d we ever get so far down, and
How’s it ever gonna turn around
So I turned my eyes to Heaven
I thought, “God, why don’t You do something?”
Well, I just couldn’t bear the thought of
People living in poverty
Children sold into slavery
The thought disgusted me
So, I shook my fist at Heaven
Said, “God, why don’t You do something?”
He said, “I did, yeah, I created you” (now listen)
If not us, then who
If not me and you
Right now, it’s time for us to do something, yeah
If not now, then when
Will we see an end
To all this pain
Oh, it’s not enough to do nothing
It’s time for us to do something
‘DO SOMETHING’?
That can be an intimidating thought, no? You may not feel worthy. You may feel a mess from your past. Yet I’m here to tell you that it doesn’t matter where you were born, what you have or do not have, what you have done, or what’s been done to you.
It doesn’t matter your race, your age or your gender.
The One who created you sees you as beautiful, loves you and calls out to you.
Your life matters.
You were made to change the world.
But as the song on the radio says…
”we’re never gonna change the world by standing still.”
Motion creates emotion. Emotion leads to motion. One way to “do something” right now is to get excited about the possibilities for the rest of your life. Regardless of where you started or what you have been through, I believe God has a perfect and big plan for your life both now and forever.
