Are you Waiting for God, or is He Waiting for You?

It is fascinating that in the Coaching World, non-Christian Coaching focuses on helping people get what they want; comfort, minimal struggles, and a happy life. Ultimately, this is what we would all like. However, making all your life decisions based on what you want and what feels good to you does not lead us down God’s path. A significant distinction between Christian Coaching and World based Coaching is that sometimes the very struggle we are in is the one God desires us to be to mold us, shape us, or help impact the World around us versus helping us “feel good.” When we make our decisions based on our wants and feelings, we are taking the place of God in our lives.

When you go through dark and intense struggles as a Christian, is it human nature to want to get out of them. We ask God to move the heavy rocks of life that weigh us down. We wonder and worry why it is taking so long for this struggle to go away. We think maybe God has forgotten about us or just doesn’t care. All sorts of emotions and thoughts can go through our minds in the middle of the battle.

“Ask God if there is anything you need to change.”

There are various reasons your struggle may seem to feel so difficult and so long, including losses that you cannot control, others who are complex, evil intent, or the evil one himself. Sometimes the reason it takes so long for God to change something is that He is waiting for us to change. For example, your finances may always feel a mess because He wants you to manage them in His way and not yours. Or, you may experience relational conflict or separation because he wants you to change your approach with people. The list goes on.

It is essential to realize that God is trying to mold us to be more like Jesus every day in every aspect of life. We are not there yet, and God many times teaches us through the struggles. Whatever you are going through, ask God if you need to ask forgiveness for anything, or if there are any specific ways you need to think differently, or if there are things you need to change. You may feel like you are waiting on God when in actuality He may be waiting on you!

Here are some important questions for the week to answer and keep in front of you:

1) Ask God if He is waiting for you in any specific areas or situations.

2) What is God showing you when you ask Him?

3) What do you need to change?

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, you are my everything. I need you to be Lord of every area of my life! Please show me your way. If there is anything I need to change in my life, please reveal it to me and help me change it. I never want anything I am doing or not doing, standing in the way of where you want to lead my life.
