Be Wise!

Be Wise

Have you noticed that many people in this world make decisions differently than you would? Interestingly, I bet there are many decisions you make that others don’t agree with either. How could they not agree with you? You are wise, and apparently, they are not, or is it the other way around? Wisdom is not only the ability to know what is right but to act on that knowledge.

Wisdom is vital if you want everything God has for you in this life, but many times God’s wisdom is very different than what you or the world thinks. The only way to get the right knowledge from God is to ask Him for it and seek it in all areas of your life. Without wisdom, you may find yourself in big life messes, or you may already be in some. There is good news – you can live a life of wisdom that will lead to all the things God has in store for you.

“Your wisdom leads to problems, but God’s wisdom leads to victory.”

So how do you get wisdom from God? You must first be willing to ask for it and then live by it. Solomon was the wisest man who ever lived, and the reason is that before he became King, God let him ask for whatever he wanted, and Solomon asked for wisdom, and God gave it to him. You can learn from the wisdom God gave him by reading the book of Proverbs. Billy Graham thought Proverbs was so powerful that he read a book of Proverbs every day that coincided with that day of the month.

You and I have to make decisions every day. Even though we may have God in our hearts and the Holy Spirit, we don’t always listen well. There are so many other inside and outside voices that we can quickly go with what we want or what is popular and ultimately act unwisely. We must learn to find God’s wisdom through His Word, through prayer, and through wise people who walk with Him. Challenge conventional wisdom and only do the truly wise thing, regardless of what this world thinks.

Here are some essential questions for the week to answer and keep in front of you:

1) What are some decisions you are facing in your life right now?

2) Where can you find God’s wisdom to help you make the right decisions?

3) Are you acting on God’s wisdom or someone else’s ideas?

Prayer: “Lord, you made the heavens and the earth. You know everything, and you say that if I seek you, you will show me. I am seeking you, Lord. Show me your way! I need only to hear your voice and know your will. I will do and say whatever you call me to and trust you for the results. Lead me, Lord, lead me. I am yours.  Amen!”

 Scripture: Isaiah 29:16
